The average home or business can experience hundreds of potentially damaging electrical events each year, and today’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment is even more susceptible to these unavoidable events. Power fl uctuations, surges and voltage transients can severely damage your heating and cooling system just like any other sensitive electronic device. While a brief power fluctuation may not cause any obvious signs of damage, input voltage that is continuously outside of the operating range of the equipment can quickly damage sensitive electronic circuitry. This is especially important with inverter-based compressor systems and ductless AC systems (mini splits). DITEK’s DTK-KG2 is part of the Kool Guard Series of intelligent voltage monitoring solutions and is specifi cally designed to monitor the input power supplying the equipment. If the voltage fluctuates outside of the preprogrammed under- and over-voltage limits, it safely disconnects power to the equipment until voltage returns within the normal range. The DTK-KG2 also incorporates state-of-the-art surge protection to shield the equipment from damaging surges and spikes; and the standard UL Type 4X polycarbonate enclosure allows the unit to be easily installed in harsh outdoor environments.
